Terms of use and community rules

These terms apply when you play Stock Pocks or use this website. By creating an account or playing, you agree to them. We have written them in plain language.

Free to play, and nothing has monetary value

The game is free. You never need to buy anything to play.
Nothing in the game has monetary value. Points, XP, keepsakes, story cards, Pocks and anything else you get in the game cannot be sold, exchanged or redeemed for anything, and they give you no claim to money, tokens or any other asset. The only exceptions are pending Roam MOTE for Genesis and bred Pocks, whose rules are set when Genesis opens, and a Genesis spot from the Share your Roam campaign, covered only by its own rules.
Practice Pocks are not NFTs. A Practice Pock is a game character with no value. It is not a collectible, cannot be transferred, and never counts toward MOTE, growth or any future financial right.
Free to play. No payment or token feature is switched on in the game. The Genesis sale runs only at genesis.stockpocks.com, under its own terms there. Read those terms and the risks before you bid. Genesis spots from the in-game Share your Roam campaign follow their own published rules.
This is not an offer. Nothing in the game, on this website or in our channels is an offer or invitation to buy, sell or invest in anything.

1. Who runs Stock Pocks

Stock Pocks is run by the Stock Pocks game operator ("we" or "us"). You can reach us in the official Stock Pocks Telegram channel, or privately with a private /bug report to @stockpocksbot on Telegram. How we handle personal data is explained in our privacy notice.

2. Who can play

You must be 18 or older to create an account or play. Every sign-up asks you to confirm this. We delete accounts that we learn belong to someone younger.

3. Your account and recovery code

Your account has no password. When you sign up you get a recovery code, which is the only way back into your account on a new device or after signing out.
If your account was created by signing in with a crypto wallet, you get back in by signing with that same wallet again. Keep that wallet safe: we cannot restore access to it.
Keep the code private. Anyone who has it can open your account.
Lost recovery codes cannot be restored. We only keep a one-way hash of your code, so neither we nor anyone else can look it up or reset it for you.
One person, one account for yourself. Do not sell, share or trade accounts.

4. The open beta

Stock Pocks is in open beta. Anyone can open the game at play.stockpocks.com and create a free account. Features may change, break, pause or be removed, and we may need to reset or adjust game content. We will try to warn you on our Telegram channel first. Plaza (chat) is switched off.

5. Walks and your safety

You play Walk at your own risk. Pay attention to where you are going.
Walk a familiar route you choose. Stop somewhere safe, away from traffic, water and private land, before you look at your screen.
Never play while driving or riding, and never go somewhere you are not allowed to be.
If you would rather not share your location, play Studio instead. It needs no location.

6. AI helpers

AI helpers are optional. You choose the AI service, and its own terms and privacy policy apply to what you send it.
You are responsible for what your AI helper does with your account. Keep its access key private, and pause or revoke it if something looks wrong.
By default, a helper prepares drafts for you to approve. If you allow it, it can also act for you directly: feed or rename your Pock, play Studio Roam or send Build work automatically. Build work it sends is labelled as sent by your helper, and its diary in the game shows what it did.
Helpers never speak as your Pock, never get XP, bond or rank for you, and have no payment powers.
Do not use helpers or other automation to farm points, spam, or get around limits or these rules.

7. What you create

You keep ownership of what you write and make, such as journal entries, story cards and Build submissions. You give us a free, non-exclusive, worldwide permission to store, display, adapt for display and share it inside the game and on our channels, so the game can work and accepted work can appear in the World. You can ask us to remove your content. Only submit work you have the right to share.

8. Community rules

Stock Pocks should feel kind and safe for everyone. When you play, and in our Telegram channel and bot:

Be kind. No harassment, bullying, threats, hate or discrimination.
Keep it suitable. No sexual, violent, gory or shocking content, and nothing illegal.
Protect privacy. Never share anyone's personal details or location, including your own, and never ask for them.
No scams. Do not impersonate staff, ask for recovery codes, access keys or wallet recovery phrases, or offer money, tokens, NFTs or "early access" in exchange for anything. Staff never message you first.
No spam. No advertising, repeated posting or unsolicited links.
Play fair. No cheating, bots, scripts, multiple accounts or exploiting bugs. If you find a bug, report it instead.
Respect other people's work. Do not submit anything you copied without permission.
Leave the service alone. Do not attack, overload, probe or try to get around our limits or security.

9. If rules are broken

We may hide or remove content, limit features, suspend or delete accounts, and block access to anyone who breaks these terms or puts players or the service at risk. Where we can, we will tell you why. If you think we got it wrong, send /bug to @stockpocksbot and a person will look at it again.

10. Our responsibility

We provide the game free and as it is, and we cannot promise that it will always be available, error-free or that your progress will never be lost. As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect losses or for anything you lose because you shared your recovery code or access key. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot be limited.

11. Changes and contact

We may update these terms, for example after legal review. If a change matters, we will say so on our Telegram channel before it applies. If you keep playing after that, the new terms apply. Questions: the official Stock Pocks Telegram channel (see the support page).
